The Phoenix Mercury says. Brittany Griner will miss at least two WNBA games to focus on her mental health
Britney Greiner will not participate in an upcoming road trip with the Phoenix Mercury to focus on her mental health. The WNBA star will miss at least two games this week during trips to Chicago and Indiana, but the Mercury say they are still finalizing a timeline for her return to the court.
Mercury center Brittany Greiner will not travel with the team on a two-game road trip to Chicago and Indiana (July 30-August 1) to focus on her mental health. Mercury fully supports Britney and we will continue to work together on a timeline for her return.
Garner, an Olympic gold medalist and veteran WNBA All-Star, originally returned to the league after being released from custody in Russia earlier this year. The professional was detained in Russian prisons for nearly 10 months on drug charges before she was released last December in an exchange of high-profile prisoners for an arms dealer imprisoned in the United States.
Greiner re-signed a contract with Phoenix Mercury, the team where she had played for many years before being detained, within a few months of returning home. He presented his first official game time this season when Mercury played against the Los Angeles Sparks in May. About a month later, Greiner played his first All-Star game since his return.
